What's On Your Mind? ECT to gather citizens' input about growth through eight Regional Growth Meetings and questionnaires
Envision Central Texas is hosting eight public meetings over the next few weeks to discuss growth-related issues in the Central Texas Region and gather citizens opinions and ideas. ECT is also collecting input on a regional growth questionnaire available in English and Spanish. Five years ago, Envision Central Texas asked citizens to weigh in on how they would like to see our region grow, including how and where land is developed for housing and jobs, the types of homes we live in, how we travel around the region, and how we treat our environment. The input from thousands of Central Texans formed the basis of a regional Vision which describes the features and priorities that citizens deemed critical to preserving and enhancing our quality of life. ECT is currently conducting a Vision Progress Assessment to determine how the region has changed since 2003, if it is moving toward the Vision and identify the priorities for moving forward. We want your opinion! Please come to a Regional Growth Meeting and invite your friends and neighbors to attend. Also, please fill out the regional growth questionnaire. If you have questions, please email Wendy Peeples at ECT at wpeeples@envisioncentraltexas.org or call her at 512-916-6012.

ideas and "best practices" to solve these and many other challenges.
Envision Central Texas, in partnership with the

The toolbox provides effective, context sensitive strategies and approaches to achieve quality growth goals that align with the principles articulated in the regional Vision.
For the next six months the

MacMora Cottages
This is the fourth in a series of articles about the 2007 ECT Community Stewardship Award recipients. The 2007 winner of the ECT Community Stewardship Award for "New Development" was MacMora Cottages, an infill, greenfield, residential project created by TBG Partners and Momark Development LLC. Providing quality growth to an area of Austin that has not seen
new housing in a quarter century, MacMora Cottages bridges the gap between
high-density, multi-family attached housing and isolated suburban communities. MacMora offers
low-maintenance homes with front porches, outdoor entertaining
spaces, yards, sidewalks and easy-access to mass transit.
MacMora's housing product consists of detached bungalow-style cottages, all
available at an affordable price point to promote a diverse group of owners and
respond to market needs. MacMora Cottages start at $140,000 or $137 psf, a
considerably lower per square footage price than the approximate average for
other neighborhoods in the Austin metropolitan area. Located in
an urban setting, MacMora Cottages offers increased transportation options and
fosters a distinctive sense of community through its incorporation of
pedestrian-friendly streets and common green space. For more information about all of the finalists and winners of the 2007 ECT Community Stewardship Awards, click here.
